Two temporary import regimes

The choice of mode depends on the purpose of import and the type of goods. Full exemption for exhibitions and science, partial exemption for commercial use.

Complete duty exemption

Goods are imported without paying customs duties. Suitable for exhibitions, scientific research, testing and temporary projects.

  • Exhibitions and fairs - exhibits, stands, demonstration equipment
  • Professional equipment - cameras, sound, measuring instruments
  • Scientific instruments - laboratory instruments for research and experimentation
  • Containers and packaging - reusable containers for international transport
  • Samples for certification - products for testing and obtaining permits

The maximum period is 2 years. The goods must be returned unchanged.

Partial exemption - 3% per month

3% of the amount of duties and taxes is paid monthly. Suitable for equipment in commercial use.

  • Equipment for commercial use - machines, lines, units
  • Construction equipment - cranes, excavators, concrete mixers for the duration of the project
  • Transport for testing - cars and special equipment for a trial period
  • Industrial designs - prototypes and pilot batches for market assessment
  • Leasing equipment - equipment under international leasing agreements

The total amount of payments cannot exceed the full amount of duties for normal imports.

  • You have chosen the wrong mode: overpayment or customs refusal

  • The product is damaged or altered during your stay. Problems during export

Adviсe

What you should know before registration

Four nuances that are usually missed during the first temporary import.

  • Security type

A bank guarantee is more profitable than a pledge

A cash deposit freezes funds for the entire period. A bank guarantee costs 1–3% per annum - the money remains in circulation.

  • Simplified procedure

    ATA Carnet for Exhibitions

The ATA Carnet replaces the deposit and simplifies registration. Operates in 78 countries - ideal for exhibition exhibits.

  • Extension of deadline

    Apply early

It is possible to extend temporary importation, but the application must be submitted at least 30 days before the expiration date. Late = fines.

  • Calculation of payments

3% is considered from the full amount

With a partial exemption, 3% is calculated on the amount of duties and VAT that would have to be paid for normal imports.
